Discover Città della Pieve
Although there is so much to enjoy in Città della Pieve (some attractions listed below) take note that the city is also extremely well located. It's easy to travel (around an hour or less by car) to nearby cities like Perugia, Siena, Orvieto, Montepulciano, Val d'Orcia, Pienza, and Assisi. Even closer is Lake Trasimeno or the hot springs at San Casciano dei Bagni. Just a little further drive is Rome and Florence, perfect for a day trip. Il Castello
"Il Castello," a medieval fortress located by Parco della Pace dates back as early as 1038. The medieval history of Pieve lives on today every year in August through the grand Palio dei Terzieri festival.
Oratory of Santa Maria dei Bianchi
The Oratory of Santa Maria dei Bianchi is where you can find some of Pietro Vannucci's greatest work. The small oratory houses "Il Perugino's" grand "Adoration of the Magi" fresco and you can find more of his art in the main Cathedral or in the Diocesan Museum of Santa Maria dei Servi.
Vicolo Baciadonne
Literally translated to "Kiss Women Street," Viccolo Bacciadone is considered one of the narrowest streets in Italy. The story goes that when crossing paths with somebody on this street, you're so close you have to kiss.
Etruscan Tomb
Located in the Santa Maria dei Servi church, this Etruscan tomb discovered in 2015 is open to the public to visit. Known as the "Laris Tomb," it won awards as an archaeological feat and likely dates back to a time between the 8th and 3rd century BCE.
Spazio Kossuth
Located inside the historic Palazzo Vescovile, this fully renovated space exhibits the work of Wolfgang Alexander Kossuth. He chose Città della Pieve as the place to display his contemporary art because of its beauty and endless inspiration.
La Casa dello Zafferano
The land around Città della Pieve produces saffron, a spice which goes back to the days of ancient Egypt and was even used by "Il Perugino" for his paintings. La Casa dello Zafferano shows you all the wonders this spice has to offer.
